The Playlist

A collage-driven zine about learning languages through the music I can't stop playing.

The Playlist

01 — Overview

The Playlist is a print & digital zine built around the songs I listen to in languages I don't fully speak — French, Turkish, Arabic, Punjabi, Hindi/Urdu, and the Balkan languages — and what each one taught me about sound, script, and belonging.

02 — Challenge

Music taste is a personal, messy archive. Turning it into an editorial object meant finding a structure that could hold six language sections, dozens of album covers, and a lot of first-person writing without collapsing into a scrapbook.

03 — Approach

Each language gets a spread with its own script in the headline, a layered collage of album art and place imagery, and a short essay in my own voice. Ransom-note lettering on the cover and rotated, hand-placed type keep the energy of a mixtape while a consistent grid underneath keeps it readable.

04 — Outcome

A full printed zine with a cover, six language spreads, and a closing crossovers playlist — songs that blend two or more languages at once.

05 — Selected artefacts
